The hospitality of Roberto Tumio, a Tuscan friend and experienced sommelier made us feel at home. The Azienda Agricola Elisabetta di Cecina, in Tuscany, with its quality products has gladdened our palate and the pleasure of feeling good together.

Ciliegiolo, special native vine of Tuscany

We can say that thanks to Ciliegiolo a friendship was born. This autochthonous black berry vine from Tuscany (central area) seems to have been imported from Spain as far back as 1870.

It takes its name from the color of the berry and one of its primary aromas that recalls the cherry.

It is a vine from ancient history, from which a red of great charm for its aroma and taste is born.

In recent years, some producers have achieved excellent results by producing excellent wines with unbleached ciliegiolo.

The Ciliegiolo in purity of the Azienda Agricola Elisabetta

A company that deserves to be mentioned is the Elisabetta Agricultural Company which produces its pure Ciliegiolo in Collemezzano, a town near Livorno.

The land suitable for this vine is located at forty meters above sea level, caressed by the sea breeze of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

The bunches harvested by hand between the months of September and October, depending on the season, are immediately taken to the cellar for the wine-making process.

This fragrant red is aged for three months in cherry wood barrels, for three months in steel containers and another six months in the bottle.

The Ciliegiolo IGT 2018 in purity of Azienda Agricola Elisabetta

Among the tastings, a special thanks to Roberto Tumio for the first one: Ciliegiolo.
Uncorking the Ciliegiolo IGT 2018 in purity of the Azienda Agricola Elisabetta, from the intended ruby color, we were fascinated by the aroma reminiscent of freshly picked cherries, followed by pleasant red fruits and red rose.

We immediately understand the reason for this name.

On the palate it is dry, quite soft and warm, with a medium body and good structure, ready for tasting. The taste is persistent, elegant and well balanced.
The Ciliegiolo IGT 2018 I tasted is a really interesting wine, ready for tasting and if you can, to keep in your own cellar, to mature and discover the evolution of color, aroma and taste over time.

Azienda Agricola Elisabetta in Collemezzano: medieval village of Tuscany

The Azienda Agricola Elisabettawas born in 1985 when with passion and competence it began to make excellent agricultural products.

The quality is found not only in the fruits of its lands but also in the hospitality that meets those lucky enough to visit Collemezzano, a small medieval village near Cecina where the Agrihotel Elisabetta is located.

AgriHotel Elisabetta: not only quality wines
